WELCOME!!

It's possible that you're curiously poking around the site, or perhaps you've merely stumbled upon this page. No matter the case, all are welcome to take a look around...but while you're here!...let me tell you a bit about myself.

[And, as you hopefully already noticed, you'll find everything you need on this site for our course,

Introduction to Rhetoric & Composition.]

My teaching journey started at the University of Southern Maine where I earned my BA and my first Masters degree, and where I was a professional academic advisor for three years. Then I moved to Boston, and I worked and taught at Suffolk University and UMass-Boston. When I started my PhD program in 2013, I made my way further south to the University of Rhode Island. It's now been two years since I started my position at Fairfield University in September 2018...and there is no where else I'd rather be.

Fairfield students are amazing to work with, and I'm excited that YOU are now joining that rank.

Our community is an awesome one.

I usually use this space to explain what I like to do in my spare time; instead, I'm going to explain my approach to teaching during a global pandemic.

These are unprecedented times. People of all ages are contracting the coronavirus, many people are dying, and we're all suffering in one way or another. My top priority for you, my students, is to keep you safe while actively engaging you in course activities. This may not look and feel like a typical approach, and it some ways it's not. But - I've done my best to prepare course material (which I care a lot about) and to be innovative in how I conduct classes. Expect the unexpected, and let's try to have some fun learning from each other. Building a sense of community will be a semester-long endeavor because our educations and our lives may depend on our support for each other.

I'm glad you landed in my course and on my website!

Let's all work toward a productive, fun,
and safe Fall 2020!
